Symposium organized at MIER College of Education

JAMMU, Feb 27: An Inter College Symposium was organized by the Environment Unit of MIER College of Education under the Project NEAC (National Environment Awareness Campaign 2014-15) in collaboration with Ministry of Environment & Forests. The theme of the Symposium was “Environment Education as an instrument to Combat Desertification and Promote Sustainable Development.”
Prof Anil K Raina, Head, Dept. of Environment Sciences, Udhampur Campus,University of Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion, while Dr Renu Gupta, Director MIER Group of Institutions, Dr Adit Gupta, Joint Director, MIER, Dr Annie Kaul, H.o.D B Ed, Dr B L Raina, H.o.D M.Ed, Rohnika Sharma, H.o.D B.Ed Special Education and other faculty members of MIER College of Education also graced the occasion with their presence.
Dr. Sumit Gandhi, Scientist, Biotechnology, Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM) Jammu, Dr Harish Dutta, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany, University of Jammu and Dr P L Kaul, OSD, MIER, Jammu were the jury members.
Formal welcome address was presented by Dr. Adit Gupta, Joint Director, MIER, in which he hailed the achievements of Prof Anil K Rainawho in fact has many researches, publications and innovations to his credit and is presently promoting measure to combat desertification and other alarming environmental changes for better human and climate health.
Eight students from various Colleges of Education across Jammu city participated in this symposium.
The students presented their views on the theme.  On the basis of the results given by Jury members, Yogita Bhagat from MIER College of Education clinched the 1stprize, Supriya Anand representing Handa College of Education won the 2nd prize and Neha Choudhary of MC Khalsa College of Education secured 3rd position. Certificates were also distributed to the participants.
Monika Bajaj, Incharge, Environment Education Unit presented the vote of thanks, while  the programme was compared by Vasudha, a student of B Ed.
