Cong workers hold protest dharna at Kalakote

RAJOURI, Mar 1: The activists of Congress Party, supported by locals of the area held protest demonstration against the State administration for discrimination in flood relief distribution, non-supply of ration and non-payment of old age and widow pensions to the people.
Former MLA and senior Congress leader, Ashok Sharma while addressing protest dharna urged upon the State Governor N N Vohra to intervene personally and provide relief  to all the deserving flood/ rain affected people of the area. He alleged that administration has failed to mitigate the sufferings of the people.
During the protest, 29 complaints of the people were received which were referred to the SDM Kalakote. Protest dharna was concluded by giving 15 days notice to the administration to provide adequate compensation to those farmers who suffered loss of complete and  partial damage to their houses, cattle and crop, supply of BPL  and APL ration on the latest strength besides, free ration of 50 kg per family for six months announced by  the Government, release of pension to those getting and sanction for such widows, physically challenged persons and their citizens, after clearing their pending files.
Prominent among those who participated include M Y Mughal, Som Raj Khajuria, Ram Lal, Nizam Din, Gulzar Zafri, Nazir Hussain, Kulwant Raj, K L Raina, Rattan Lal Padha, Hans Raj, Shakti Kumar and Baldev Bajal.
