DODA, Mar 1: For the benefit of unemployed educated youth of Doda district, a day long mega Employment Fair was organized in Government Higher Secondary School Doda (Boys) by the District Employment & Counselling Centre, Doda.
The aim and objective for holding the fair was to provide first hand information to the unemployed educated youth of the area under various State and Centrally sponsored self-employment schemes.
Deputy Commissioner Doda, Bhupinder Kumar, who was the chief guest on the occasion, inaugurated the fair while Senior Superintendent of Police Doda, Z. N Manhas was the guest of honour.
Several district officers, prominent citizens, PRI representatives, unemployed youth and a large number of people attended the fair.
During the festival, various stalls were installed by all the line departments including J&K Bank, JKEDI and Army to create awareness among people particularly unemployed educated youths of the area and to motivate them to avail benefits of the different departmental self-employment schemes.
While speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner said that the employment fair is a part of Government initiative to create massive awareness among educated youth about the various State and Centrally sponsored self-employment schemes. He urged upon the unemployed youth to come forward and take the benefits of the self-employment schemes and establish their own income generating units.
He, further, said that the region has abundant potential of small and medium enterprises which needs to be utilized and asked the youth to adopt entrepreneurship as a career prospective and establish medium and small enterprises so that they become job providers rather than job seekers.
While inspecting the stalls established by all the departments dealing in generation of employment avenues, Deputy Commissioner impressed upon the resource persons to give detailed awareness to the intending youth about the viable and economically fruitful units so that the youth get motivated and reap the benefits of self-employment schemes.
Deputy Director Employment Doda, Shahida Perveen gave detailed account of the achievements of the Employment Department in the District.
A colourful cultural programme was also presented by the artists of Information Department in collaboration with other local artists that entertained the audiences.
