JAMMU, Mar 9: Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash today exhorted upon the J&K Industries Limited to expeditiously implement prestigious project worth Rs. 50 crore envisaging upgradation of Government silk factories Rajbagh and Bemina.
“This will enable these world renowned entities, which possess huge market potential, become self sustaining and profit making hubs”, the Minister asserted.
The Minister, who was chairing a high level meeting of the Corporation, said that Government’s priority is to generate employment avenues with emphasis on optimum harnessing of State’s potential and skill.
“Quality parameters and skilled manpower coupled with technical expertise are important ingredients in making industry a viable and profitable venture”, the Minister maintained. He said that efforts would be made to rope in internationally reputed experts for revival of Corporations and Industries in the State.
Referring to scope and potential of furniture and other industries of traditional products, the Minister said that if such units are equipped with advanced infrastructural edifice and expertise can greatly help in generating employment besides occupying a significant place in the industrial world.
MD, JKI, Javid Iqbal, highlighted the achievements of the Corporation besides projecting certain issues for better functioning of the organisation.
Earlier, the Minister convened a meeting of J&K Minerals Limited to review its functioning besides working out plans for streamlining of the corporation.
During the meeting, the Minister had a detailed review of present status of coal mines, gypsum mine Assar and Parlanka, saphire mine Padder, magnesite mine, lime stone quarry etc. He also took stock of impediments in successful exploitation of this natural wealth of the State.
The Minister stressed on the need of running these projects on commercial lines besides involving technically and financially healthy agencies in the endeavor. He also asked for ensuring quality of products those are being extracted from these mines to meet the market requirements.
The Minister also asked for proper security around the mine locations to keep a check on smuggling.
MD, JK Mineral, Abid Suhail, apprised the Minister of various issues related to streamlining of the Corporation.
