JAMMU, Mar 10: Secretary, Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairy and Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India, Ashok Kumar Angurana convened a meeting of Directors of Animal & Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries and MD Wool Board to review the status of implementation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes of these sectors.
Commissioner -Secretary to Government, Animal/Sheep Husbandry Department J&K Ashok Kumar Parmar was also present in the meeting.
During the meeting detailed discussion was held on various centrally sponsored schemes viz ASCAD, NPCBB, SDRF, RKVY, NMPS, ESVHD, RIDF, ATMA and Feed and Fodder Development etc.
The Union Secretary said that Government of India is keen to give a boost to the livestock industry in J&K and stressed upon officers of the department to work for sustainable growth, production of livestock, poultry and fisheries for nutritional security and economic prosperity of state. He further added the need for genetic up-gradation of local livestock to strengthen and improve livestock productivity and ensure a disease free livestock product supply chain for the state. He stressed upon the need for conservation and development of natural resources for sustainable livestock and fish production and employment generation.
Director Sheep Husbandry Department Jammu Dr Sant Ram, Director Animal Husbandry Department Jammu Dr SL Bhagat, Director Animal Husbandry Kashmir, Dr. Shamas-ud -Din Makhdoomi, Director Sheep Husbandry Department Kashmir Dr. Kranti Kumar Sharma, Managing Director Wool Board Dr. M.R. Sheikh and Director Fisheries J&K, R K Dogra also attended the meeting.
