Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Mar 12: Forest Department today prevented encroachment on 50 kanals of land in Marh Drabi area of Nagrota. As per sources, on specific information, officials from Forest Department reached Marh Drabi area in Nagrota and dismantled the structure raised on some area of 50 kanals of forest land. As the news of the forest officials action spread, the villagers gheored the forest officials and started stone pelting and inflated a vehicle of the Forest Department. According to DFO Jammu, police did not cooperate earlier and after the directions from SSP and DC Jammu, police swung into action. He also added that during stone pelting Ashok Kumar received head injuries. When contacted SHO Nagrota told that the matter is related to Forest Department. However, when we got the reports of the incident, we reached the spot and provided full cooperation to the forest officials and also pacified the people, he added.
