RAJOURI, Mar 14: A symposium on “Truth and Non-Violence” was organized by Government Degree College (GDC) Rajouri in collaboration with Gandhi Global Family J&K State.
Padamshree SP Verma, president Gandhi Global Family J&K State was the chief guest on the occasion, while the proceedings of the function were presided over by Dr J A Qazi, Principal of the College. Dr Shakeel Ahmed Raina, Principal GDC Budhal was the guest of honour, while Bashir Ahmed Shawl, District president Gandhi Global Family and Ghulam Nabi Bichu, Advisor Gandhi Global Family were special guest on the occasion.
As many as 10 participants from various Colleges of Rajouri and Poonch displayed their hold participation in the event.
Prof M Farooq Mirza, Prof Javed Mughal and Dr Nazakat Hussain were on the panel of the judges.
Prof Mohd Iqbal Raina conducted the proceedings of the programme and the welcome note was readout by Dr M K Waqar.
Padamshree Verma spoke in detail about the vision and mission of Gandhi Global Family and exhorted one and all to conserve and propagate the legacy of Truth and Non-violence propounded by Mahatama Gandhi to every nook and corner of the world. Dr. J. A. Qazi the Principal of the College, appreciating the efforts of the Gandhi Global Family, impressed upon the audience to practically implement the philosophy of Mahatama Gandhi in their day to day life and further stressed that in the present age of turmoil and turbulence, there is an instant significance of Gandhian Philosophy.
The first position with cash prize of Rs. 5000 was captured by Ahlam Mir of GDC Rajouri, whereas the second and third ranks worth Rs 3000 and 2000 respectively went to Aliya Iqbal of HEM Degree College and Zahid Farooq of GDC Budhal.
