National Director IAYP visits Jodhamal School

JAMMU, Aug 4: National Director, International Award for Young People (IAYP) in India, Kapil Bhalla, ex-Dosco from The Doon School Dehradun visited Jodhamal Public School, Jammu, the only YES Centre of IAYP in J&K and handed over the National Operators License during the Award Orientation Programme, here today.
He was accompanied by the Programme Manager, Bivujit Mukhoty, the guest of honour on the occasion.
The IAYP programme – an offshoot of the Duke of Edinburg’s Awards for the promotion and provision of skill and confidence, the initiative of Trilok Singh Bist, Principal Jodhamal Public School for its northernmost frontier in India, proved to be a grand success.
The award is based on the concept of individual challenge in which young adolescents take the responsibility for their own development through voluntary self help activities. The award will go a long way in developing the interpersonal skills and team spirit of participants in a non-competitive balanced environment and will give an international dimension to the school curriculum.
The Legacy schools like The Doon School, Dehradun, The Welhem Boys Lawrence School, Sanwar & Wood Stock Mussoorie to name few are into the awards for a long time now.
Simran Singh and Shallu Sharma, the Award leaders from Jodhamal Public School welcomed the 15 schools of Jammu region along with Army school Akhnoor and Nagrota.
The Schools included G D Goenka School, Heritage School, J P World School, K C International, K V Bantalab, M V International, Model Academy, SOS Hermann School, Sainik School Nagrota and NGO headed by Sophia.
“Jodhamal Public School will be the Youth Engaging Society (YES) centre for Jammu under the aegis of National Award Authority,” said Nandan Kuthiala, Trustee Jodhamal Public School, who presided over the function.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Arti Kuthiala, Rohini Aima and teachers from different schools of Jammu and the CCA Coordinators of Jodhamal Public School.
