*Stresses for talent hunt, promotion of game

Jammu, Mar 16: Working president of Hockey J&K, S M Sahai , yesterday convened a meeting of Executive Board of Hockey J&K to discuss various issues related to functioning of Hockey J&K and improvement of the game across the State.
During the meeting various issues related to functioning of the executive body of Hockey J&K, improvement of the game by better utilization and identification of the talent were discussed. The participants also discussed the amendments required in the constitution of Hockey J&K for its smooth functioning.
For increased interest of people in the sport and development of Hockey in J&K State, revival of erstwhile Hockey Gold Cup was proposed and in this regard the members were asked to come up with suggestions and other modalities for revival of the erstwhile championship.
The working president said that Hockey J&K will host various championships for providing platform to the players of the State. He directed the office bearers to come up with blue prints for the forth coming Junior and sub junior national Hockey championships being organised by Hockey J&K in the month of May this year.
Mr Sahai said that Hockey J&K will immediately start talent hunt exercises across the State and new players be registered as per the latest guidelines of Hockey India. “To explore fresh talent and register new players from every district of the State is a must exercise, which has to be taken in hand for improvement of the game and to encourage the talent”, he added.
Among others, the meeting was attended by IGP Mukesh Singh, associate vice president Hockey J&K, senior vice president Jaswant Singh, vice president Sham Lal, secretary G S Bakshi, Treasurer Rajinder Singh, Sports Officer J&K Police Kuldeep Handoo and other executive members including Charanjeet Singh, Dalbir Mahila and Joginder Singh.
