Annual NSS Camp concludes

JAMMU, Mar 26: Ten days long Annual NSS Camp at Village Chak Jaralan, Bishnah in Samba, which had begun on March 16, 2015 concluded today.
The Camp was organized by the NSS Unit of Dogra College of Education, Bassi Kalan, Bari Brahmana, Samba.
Various activities were held during the camp which included Socio – economic surveys, Cleanliness Drive, Yoga Asanas, Self Defence Training, Awareness Rallies, Plantation Drive.
A Voluntary Blood Donation Camp was also organized in collaboration with Govt. Medical College Jammu under the supervision of Dr Vijay Swahney, Prof. & Head P.G. Department of Blood Transfusion and Medicine.
A motivational lecture was also given by Dr. Sawhney on that occasion.
The function started with the lighting of traditional lamp followed by the welcome address by Prof. B. D. Damral, Director cum Principal, Dogra College of Education. In his address Prof. Damral highlighted the role of NSS in developing students’ personality through community service.
Camp report was presented by Mrs. Rajni Manhas, Programme Officer, NSS Unit of Dogra College of Education.
Chander Prakash Ganga, Minister for Industries & Commerce was the chief guest on the occasion while Th. Gulchain Singh Charak, former Minister for Higher Education presided over the function.
In his address Chander Prakash Ganga stressed that the motto of the National Service Scheme is ” Not me But You ” which expresses the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for selfless service and appreciation of  other’s point of view. He further stressed that it should be the main objective of the NSS Volunteers to demonstrate this motto in their day to day activities of the camp.
Mr. Charak in his presidential address appreciated the NSS Volunteers for their involvement & tremendous endeavour in planning and organising multifarious activities during the Camp.
