JAMMU, Mar 26: A general store owner was arrested for raping a minor girl in RS Pura area.
As per police sources, a minor girl aged around 14 years residing in Ward Number 4, RS Pura lodged a complaint with police station RS Pura that a general store owner who also deals in artificial jewellery items identified as Rajinder Kumar (40), son of Manohar Lal, a resident of Ward No 11, RS Pura raped her after finding her along at her residence this morning.
According to the complainant, the accused entered her house this morning to take the pending amount of the artificial jewellery, which she had purchased from his shop. Finding her alone, the accused raped her and threatened not to disclose the incident to anyone, the complainant said.
The girl narrated the ordeal to her mother, who along with other family members lodged a complaint with police station RS Pura.
Acting on the complaint, a case under FIR number 50/15 under Section 376 RPC was registered and police team from RS Pura police station nabbed the accused from his shop.
The girl was restored to family members after conducting medical examination.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
Police team led by SHO RS Pura police station Aabid Rafiqi made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura Devinder Singh, SP Headquarters Randheer Singh and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
