JAMMU, Mar 29: Describing education as key to socio-economic development as well as grooming of young generation into responsible citizens, Minister of State for Education, Priya Sethi today laid stress on imparting quality education with academic excellence.
The Minister was speaking at an Annual results function organized in D.B.N School Mubarak Mandi.
Speaking on the occasion minister stressed upon the teachers to encourage students to participate in extra-curricular activities which is pre requisite for overall growth and personality development of students. She further emphasized that students should be educated in such a manner that their mental horizons are broadened. “Schools should be a seat of learning and institutes of human resource development”, she maintained.
Underscoring the need for close parent-teacher synergy for healthy growth of children, she said that periodical interaction between the two will help to identify gray areas and timely corrective measures, where ever required, adding that, “students need lessons of life alongside guidance on the subject matter for becoming useful citizens of tomorrow”.
The Minister also suggested introduction of Yoga Classes for students to overcome stress and strain.
Earlier, the Minister gave away certificates of merit and trophies to students who have excelled in academic during 2014-15.
