DIG Jammu holds meet with owners of cricketing extravaganza ‘PPCPL’

*’Winner of the League to get Rs 5 lakh as cash prize’

JAMMU, Apr 2: Shakeel Beig, DIG Jammu and General Secretary of the cricketing extravaganza ‘Police Public Cricket Premier League’ (PPCPL) in presence of Rajeshwar Singh, SSP and CEO of the league held a meeting with the owners of the League at Police Officers G.O. Mess, here today.
A threadbare discussion was held regarding the objectives and conduct of the mega event. The owners felt the need of purchasing 6 players instead of already decided 4 players for the franchises in the auction, which the DIG Jammu after taking the views of all present in the meeting, accepted and directed for the change in this regard.
The General Secretary of the League and DIG Jammu disclosed that within a couple of days DGP J&K Police, who is the Chairman of the PPCPL will be holding a Press Conference at PHQ, which will be followed by trials and auction.
“The cash prize in this League is Rs 5 lakh for the winners, 3 lakh for the runners-up team, 2 lakh for the third place holder and 1.5 lakh for the team placed at 4th spot. Winner of each match will receive Rs.10,000 while man of the series will be presented Rs 50,000, best batsman Rs 25,000, best bowler Rs. 25,000, apart from other awards,” informed DIG.
Rajesh Gill, organizing secretary of the League said that the trials will be held at Bhaderwah, Udhampur, Kathua, Rajouri and Jammu.
Ten teams which are participating in the League include Simula Superstars owned by Hilal Rather, M.D.Simula Group; Bhaderwah Panthers owned by Shafkat Baba; Ishar Daredevils owned by Sanjeev Pavit Singh; Baba Rishi Lions owned by MLA Shujja Alam; Jammu Khalsa Kings XI owned by Avtar Singh Khalsa; Jammu Royal Choice XI owned by S Sukhwinder Singh (Businessman); Mirza Gladiators owned by Ahsan Mirza; Suriya Milk Risers owned by Satish Gupta, AG Royals owned by Amit Blowria and the hosts JKP Tigers.
Prominent among other committee members and officiating members who attended the meeting were Rajnish Pran SO to DIG, Parshotam Sharma DDP RPHQ, DySP Shahid Parvez, former Ranji Trophy players Ashwani Gupta, Surinder Singh Bagal and Vivek Sharma; joint secretary of the League Rajesh Dhar; Vinay Gupta, Satwant Singh, Vivek Sharma, Inspector Satinder Singh, Sudhir Singh, RP Singh, Saleem-ur-Rehman, JD Singh and Sadiq Hussain.
