18 players selected for PPCPL on Day-1 of trials

JAMMU, Apr 9: Shakeel Beig DIG Jammu and General Secretary of Police Public Cricket Premier League (PPCPL) today informed that 18 players have been selected for PPCPL auction during the selection trials conducted at Bhaderwah and Udhampur under  the supervision of former Ranji Trophy players and senior Police Officers, today.
The players from Katra, Udhampur, Reasi, Bhaderwah, Doda and Kishatwar participated in the trials.
The objective of conducting trials at different places is to identify the unnoticed talent of the far-flung areas and provide them platform to showcase their skill.
The trials for Udhampur cricketers and the adjoining areas were conducted at SKPA, Udhampur in which fifty five cricketers participated and eight players with two spinners, two medium pacers, one wicketkeeper-batsman and three batsmen were selected.
The selected players from Udhampur included Sunil Kumar, Ritik Singh, Anshuman Singh, Avish Sharma, Rajat Sharma, Gourav Khajuria, Himanshu Chandan and Shubam Gupta.
The trials for the Bhaderwah cricketers were conducted at Higher Secondary School Bhaderwah and 10 boys were selected with two wicketkeeper batsmen, four all-rounders and four batsmen. The selected players included Sameer Malik, Mohd Mohsin, Burhan Ganai, Usmaan Najar, Hanan Mir, Shohab Mughal, Saleem Sheikh, Mehraan Ganai, Farhab Shapoo and Zahir Shiekh. The Selection Committee of these venues included Rajesh Gill, DySP Pawan Sharma, Vivek Sharma, Vinay Gupta, DySP Sajjad, Sameer Malik and Shafkat Baba.
Meanwhile, the trials at Rajouri DPL Ground will be conducted tomorrow from 10 am to 1.30 pm. The selection Committee includes Rajesh Gill, Satwant Singh, Rakesh Koul and DySP DAR Rajouri.
