JAMMU, Apr 11: Viewing seriously  the recent political developments, statements and utterances regarding the resettlement of the displaced Pandits in the Kashmir valley, Panun Kashmir today made it clear that separate homeland on the North Eastern side  of river Jehlum (Vitasta) was the only solution to the problem of over seven lakh exiled Pandits.
Talking to reporters here today PK president Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo along with national spokesperson of the organization Virender Raina said that any return formula without taking the geo-political aspirations of the Pandits into consideration is slated to boomerang.
Mr Chrungoo said the KPs are victims of genocide and National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has admitted the same also. He demanded ordering of a Commission of Inquiry to probe that which forces were responsible for creating the conditions akin to genocide in Valley.
Rejecting the present move of return, Chrungoo said Pandits are not the victims of natural calamity but man made calamity.  Ridiculing the concept of composite township, he said the Pandits are victims of the same composite culture that prevailed in Valley prior to 1990.
Chrungoo said that it was due to complete failure of the Government in 1989-90 that it could not prevent the mass exodus of the minorities in from Valley and later the successive Governments at State and at Centre also failed to redress the problems of the displaced Pandits and provide justice to them.
Lambasting the separatists for opposing the rehabilitation of Pandits in Valley, he said some militant groups  have also joined them saying that they will not allow the settlement of Hindus in Valley under the garb of Kashmiri Pandits.
He said the recent controversy regarding the resettlement of the Pandit community in Kashmir is absolutely unfortunate and exposes the mindset of the forces that are hell bent to keep the Pandit community in limbo till perpetuity. The Government’s unilateral statements on the issue of return without any consultation with the prime stakeholders and the subsequent U-turn shows the infirmity of the entire policy and process in this regard. The insensitivity with which the serious issue of resettlement is being handled shows the non-serious attitude of the Government, he added
He said  Panun Kashmir also condemns the reactive politics of the secessionist forces and the Kashmir centric political parties against the resettlement of the Pandits in the valley.
