JAMMU, Apr 13: Describing the PDP-BJP coalition as historic combination in Jammu and Kashmir, Minister for Social Welfare, Forest, Ecology and Environment, Bali Bhagat, today said that both the parties represent major share of voters in the State, thus were real stakeholders to form the Government.
Addressing series of public meetings in Raipur-Domana constituency, the Minister said that present dispensation is different from the previous ones as the people have voted for a change and they have extraordinary expectations from this dispensation. He said both the parties viz; PDP and BJP have greater responsibility to achieve the agenda of all round development and to ensure peace, progress and corruption-free governance, adding that both the partners will work in close coordination to accomplish these common goals.
Highlighting the priorities of the Government, the Minister said that upgradation of basic facilities like road connectivity, drinking water; health services, employment, electricity and education are key sectors on which the Government will focus. He said condition of all these sectors is not satisfactory and government will arrange adequate funding for fine-tuning these key sectors. He said the development plans will be formulated with the consent of local people so that the benefits of development reach to the needy.
Responding to the demands of people at village Kanger, the Minister said that work on upgradation of Bhalwal-Kanger road will commence soon. Similarly, he assured construction of a tube-well in the village at the earliest to get rid of drinking water problem. He assured to address all the outstanding issues of the village in a phased manner. He asked the Panchayat members to fix the priorities of the area and submit a plan which will be taken up for execution. He said all the promises made before the election will be fulfilled in letter and spirit.
He also urged the Panchayat Members to submit a list of poor beneficiaries for availing the benefits of various welfare schemes. He said that a team of officers of Social Welfare and Rural Development Departments will visit the area to facilitate the beneficiaries to complete the formalities for availing the benefits of schemes.
Earlier, the Minister launched the development work of lane and drain at village Sangtra More to be developed by the Rural Development Department at a cost of over Rs 1 lakh.
Several Sarpanchs, Panchs, local leaders including, Sukhdev Singh, Omi Khajuria, Madhusudhan Sharma, Joginder Singh Chib, Asgar Ali also accompanied the Minister.
