DODA, Apr 15: Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Abdul Haq Khan today said while the Coalition Government is committed to work for the welfare of every region of the State, the Chenab Valley area get special attention because of its treacherous terrain.
This was stated by the Minister while reviewing sector-wise physical and financial achievements in district Doda under Annual Plan 2014-15 at a meeting of district officers here today.
Minister of State for PWD (R&B) and Revenue Sunil Kumar Sharma, MLA Bhaderwah Daleep Singh, MLA Doda Shakti Raj, MLC Naresh Kumar Gupta, MLC Firdous Ahmed Tak, Deputy Commissioner Doda, Bhupinder Kumar, Director Rural Development Jammu G.N Balwan, besides sectoral officers were present at the meeting.
The Minister took a detailed review of the progress of schemes and works in Agriculture, Apiculture, Soil Conservation, Horticulture, Fisheries, Rural Development Department, R&B, Power, PMGSY, CA&PD, Education and other line departments.
Laying focus on the convergence between various departments to pool the resources, Haq Khan asked Fisheries and Agriculture Departments to make a convergence plan in coordination with Rural Development Department in which the labour component could be provided by the RDD.
Minister expressed concern over the low production in fisheries sector, which otherwise has a huge potential in the region and directed the department to inculcate interest among the progressive farmers about the benefits of investing in this sector so that their economic condition could be improved.
While reviewing the progress of Rural Development Department in the District, Minister impressed upon the Assistant Commissioner Development Doda to verify all the IAY cases on time so that the installments could be released well in time. He also constituted a committee headed by ADC Doda Imam Din to examine the works executed by the Rural Development Department in Udyanpur, Trown and Bharat Bagla panchayats of District Doda and directed them to report actual status of the works executed in these panchayats within ten days.
He further directed DC Doda to conduct a inquiry on the construction of an additional BDO Office in the premises of earlier Block Development Office Bhaderwah and submit report with the factual position.
Responding to the demand of the people for the early and permanent restoration of Batote – Doda National Highway, Minister for RDD directed SE PWD Doda to nominate one officer in charge of all major landslide prone spots on the National Highway for monitoring the clearance of the road on these vulnerable spots.
SSP Doda Z N Manhas was impressed upon to constitute joint teams of officers/ officials comprising one officer/ officials from Revenue Department, one from Police and another from Engineering Department to supervise the road restoration works in the district, besides it was also decided that a Joint Control Room should be constituted at District headquarters and the phone numbers should be publicized so that the people can know the status of the roads from control room before leaving their station for onward journey.
MoS PWD (R&B) and Revenue Sunil Kumar Sharma said that a draft proposal to link the GMC Jammu with the hospitals of erstwhile District Doda is in pipeline by which the services of the medical students doing internship will be available in these hospitals.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Doda Bhupinder Kumar in a powerpoint presentation gave a detailed account of sector wise physical and financial achievements made by different departments in the district.
Fixation of the rates of essential commodities, market inspections to verify the actual rates charged by the shopkeepers, transportation of essential supplies to the District Headquarters among other issues in the CA&PD Department were also discussed and necessary instructions were conveyed to the concerned quarters.
