Jahangir Lone steals show as JKP Tigers, Chenab Gas Royals register convincing wins in PPCPL

JAMMU, Apr 21: It was Jahangir Lone all the way as JKP Tigers and Chenab Gas Royals registered emphatic victories over their rivals to stay alive in the contention of making it to the last eight stages in the ongoing Police Public Cricket Premier League (PPCPL), being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Police at GGM Science College Hostel Ground, here.
Earlier, in the first match, JKP Tigers defeated Ishar Daredevils by 23 runs in an easy contest.
Batting first, JKP Tigers scored 145 runs for loss of five wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Openers Jahangir Lone and skipper Rajesh Gill scored 56 and 51 runs respectively, while Ishtiaq contributed 25 runs to the total. Jahangir played an explosive knock off 37 balls, studded with 4 sixes and 5 fours, while Gill hit 7 fours and a six in his knock. Mayank Goutam took 2 wickets, while Pavit Singh Ishar and Manjeet Singh shared one wicket each.
In reply, Ishar Daredevils managed to score 122 runs to lose the match by 23 runs. Bansi Lal (30) and Amritpal Singh (20) were the main scorers. Amit Sharma took 3 wickets for JKP Tigers, while Mehjoor Ali bagged 2 wickets. Shamsher and Mohd Ashraf shared one wicket each. Jahangir Lone was adjudged as man of the match, who also bagged award for maximum number of sixes and best catch.
In another match, Chenab Gas Royals got better of Jammu Royal Choice XI by a narrow margin of 4 runs in a thrilling contest.
Batting first, Chenab Gas Royals scored 112 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Bandeep Singh top scored with 45 runs, while Vishwajeet Singh chipped in with brisk 16 runs. Sahil Sharma, Shiv Dutt, Gagandeep Jr took 2 wickets each, while Ankush Bandral  and Gagandeep Sr shared one wicket each.
In reply, Jammu Royal Choice XI fell just 4 runs short of the required target by managing to score 108 runs by losing all the wickets, thus lost the match by 4 runs. Pankaj Lada and skipper Aditya Partap Singh made 30 and 16 runs respectively. For Chenab Gas Royals, Bandeep took 3 wickets, while Vishwajeet Singh, Pardeep Bali, Rahil Singh and youngster Ritik took one wicket each. Bandeep Singh was named man of the match, while Vishwajeet was awarded for hitting maximum number of sixes and Vimarsh Kaw for best catch.
The matches were officiated by Harbinder Singh, Saleem-ur-Rehman, Sadiq Hussain Malik and JD Singh as umpires, while Sandeep Manchanda and Vinod acted as scorers.
The proceedings of post match presentation were conducted by Rajesh Dhar and RP Singh.
SSP Ashok Sharma, SP Hqrs Randhir Singh and DySP Shahid Parvez were the special guests in today’s matches, who presented a cash award of Rs 10, 000 each to the winning teams on the occasion.
“In tomorrow’s fixture, Ishar Daredevils will face Banihal Knight Riders, while Jammu Khalsa Kings will take on Kashmir Steel Warriors,” informed Rajesh Gill, organizing secretary of tournament.
