JAMMU, Apr 22: Departments of Law and Physical Education registered convincing wins over their rivals to advance in the ongoing Inter-Department Cricket Tournament, being organized by the University of Jammu at Varsity ground, here.
In the first match, Law defeated Bio-Technology by 9 wickets in an easy contest. Batting first, Bio-Technology Department scored a modest total of 88 runs in 16.1 overs, losing all their wickets in the process. Deepak, Sajid and Maroof contributed with 15, 14 and 12 runs respectively. Vikram took 3 wickets, while Rohit claimed 2 for Law Department.
In reply, Law Department scored the required runs in 11.2 overs, losing one wicket in the process, thus won the match by 9 wickets. Arun (44) was the top scorer, while Amit contributed 26 runs to the winning cause. Sachin took the lone wickets to fall.
The match was officiated by Jagtar Singh,, Suresh Singh, Manu Khajuria and Rajkumar Bakshi.
In another match, Physical Education Department got better of the Geology Department by 7 wickets in an easy contest. Batting first, Geology Department, scored 103 runs, with Munna and Karanveer scoring 20 and 17 runs to the total respectively. Rakesh, Mehmmod and Vinay took 2 wickets each for Physical Education Department.
In reply, Physical Education Department chased the target in 17 overs by losing 7 wickets, thus won the match by 3 wickets. Naresh Singh and Rahul scored 30 and 23 runs to the total respectively, while Manoj chipped in with 11 runs. Mubarakh and Rajesh bagged 2 wickets each and Ashwani claimed one wicket.
