JAMMU, Apr 22: Minister for Education, Information and Culture, Priya Sethi, today inaugurated a two-day workshop on Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) organized by Government College for Women, Parade.
Speaking on the occasion, Priya said that CBC system will benefit the students in a big way as it will enable them choose the course as per their choice from amongst the prescribed ones. Besides, the system would help the students get vocational training also, she added.
The Minister said that introduction of this system would ensure better learning and evaluation parameters which are effective tools for measuring worthiness of an individual. This would also ensure overall development of students in all respects thus contributing to the good governance in the State.
For achieving holistic growth and development, the Minister said that focus would be given on skill development and job-oriented courses in educational institutions. “This will help harness and nurture students’ potential in a better way and enable them face future challenges with greater valour”, she added.
The Minister said that Govt’s priority is to reconstruct and refurbish higher education system to meet present challenges besides providing education to students as per requirement. She added that the Government intends to give a new direction to education sector by putting in place an innovative and knowledge oriented mechanism purely based on quality and distinction.
Among others present were principle GCW, Hemla Aggarwal, Experts, Dr. Jyoti and S.K Khounsa, Principals of various colleges besides faculty members and students.
