JAMMU, Apr 23: Mathematics Department and Law School registered convincing victories over their rivals in the ongoing Inter-Department Cricket Tournament, being organized by the University of Jammu at Varsity grounds, here.
In the first match, Mathematics Department defeated Chemistry Department by a narrow margin of 10 runs in a close contest. Batting first, Mathematics Deptt scored 157 runs by losing 7 wickets in 20 overs. Sumeet top scored with 61 runs, while Ashish contributed 21 runs to the total. Yawar, Sumit, Ashwani and Mukesh claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Chemistry Department managed to score 147 runs in 20 overs to lose the match by 10 runs. Yawar and Mukesh contributed 39 runs each, while Ravi scored 35 runs. Sumeet, Manoj and Arun claimed one wicket each.
In another match, Law School defeated Geology Department in an easy contest by 9 wickets. Geology scored 124 runs in 20 overs, while Law School chased the score in 13.4 overs by losing just one wicket to win the match by 9 wickets. From Law School, Gourav Khajuria was the top scorer with 92 runs off 50 balls, studded with 14 boundaries and 3 sixes.
The matches were officiated by Suresh Singh, Pankaj Sasun, Vijay Dogra, Opinder Singh, Manu Khajuria and Raj Kumar Bakshi.
