KATRA, Apr 23: District Development Commissioner Reasi, Sushma Chauhan today held a public grievances redressal camp at Katra where people from all Panchayats participated and a number of issues were resolved.
SDM Katra-Anil Chandel, ASP Katra-Sumeer Kotwal, district and sectoral officers of various departments accompanied the DDC during her camp.
Sarpanchs and Panchs from different Panchayats raised the issues pertaining to various departments, demand for a library at Katra and the DDC issued instructions to concerned officers for time bound redressal of grievances and issues.
Issues related to sanitation, PHE, Irrigation, Health, Power, Roads, Rural Development, Social Welfare, Education, Forest and other departments were raised during the meeting.
DDC directed the district officers to carry out internal departmental exercise regarding the issues raised in the meeting and come up with deliverables within a week’s time for resolving the development related issues.
Chauhan said Katra being base camp of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi ji yatra caters to pilgrims from all across the country and globe and administration will make all efforts to make sure that best facilities are provided to the pilgrims.
Meanwhile, a modern district library with a collection of more than 3000 books was inaugurated at mini secretariat Reasi by Deputy Commissioner Sushma Chauhan.
The District Library is a joint initiative of District Administration Reasi and Salal Power Station of NHPC Limited. The library is first of such district level facility in Reasi in terms of infrastructure and collection.
Chauhan while speaking on the occasion said that this library would provide a rich learning environment to all the seekers of knowledge. She called upon the people in general and youth in particular to avail these facilities, urging them to make book reading a habit.
