JAMMU, Apr 24: Banihal Knight Riders and Kashmir Steel Warriors registered emphatic wins over their rivals in the ongoing “Police Public Cricket Premier League for J&K Cricketers”, being organized by J&K Police under its Civic Action Programme at GGM Science College Ground, here.
The league is being organized under the overall supervision of Director General of Police, J&K with the objective to provide platform to the players of far flung area and the cricketers of the state to feel the aroma of IPL in Jammu .
In the first match, Banihal Knight Riders defeated JKP Tigers in a low scoring match. After winning the toss and batting first, JKP Tigers were bundled out for mere 45 runs in 12 overs.
From Banihal Knight Riders, Umar Alam took 4 wickets, Riaz Ahmad took 3 wickets, Mohsin Nisar took 2 whereas Umar Ashraf took one wicket.
In reply, Banihal Knight Riders scored 46 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 8.4 overs. Umar Bhat made 14 runs.
From JKP Tigers, Amit Sharma took 4 wickets in his 3 overs, while Mehjoor and Ashraf took one wicket each.
Man of the match award of Rs.3000 was given to Umar Alam, most sixes award of Rs 2000 was presented to Umar Bhat and the best catch award was given to Umar Alam. The award of Rs 10,000 was also given to the winners on the occasion.
The second match was played between Kashmir Steel Warriors and Jammu Royal Choice XI.
Jammu Royal Choice XI, batting first scored a total of 130 runs for 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Pankaj Lada with 37 runs and Rohit Bhat with 28 runs were the main scorers. From Kashmir Steel Warriors, Wasim Raza took 3 wickets, Abid Nabi and Parshant took 1 wicket each.
In reply, Kashmir Steel Warriors chased the target for the loss of 7 wickets on the last ball of the match in a thrilling contest. Wasim Raza (40), Abid Nabi (24), Pranav Gupta (20) and Sandeep Singh (16) not out were the main contributors.
From Jammu Royal Choice XI, Ankush Bandral took 3 wickets, while Sahil, Gagandeep and Shiv Dutt took 1 wicket each.
Wasim Raza, pankaj Lada and Abid Nabi took man of the match, highest sixes and best catch awards respectively. Cash award of Rs 10,000 was presented to the winning team.
Dilbag Singh ADGP, MD Housing was the chief guest on the Prize Distribution ceremony, while Shakeel Beig, DIG Jammu was the guest of honour.
ADGP Dilbag Singh in presence of Rajnish Pran SO to DIG Jammu, SP City SK Chouhan and Rajesh Gill, organizing secretary of PPCPL distributed the cash prizes among the players and the winning team.
While speaking on the occasion, Mr Dilbag said that the thrilling and exciting contests always add colour to the competition. He lavished praise on the conduct committee of the PPCPL for holding the event on the pattern of IPL.
The proceedings of the prize distribution ceremony were conducted by Rajesh Dhar and RP Singh.
Simula Superstars will take on Banihal Knight Riders at 10 am, while Jammu Khalsa Kings XI will face Chenab Tigers at 2 pm.
