JAMMU, Apr 25: Inter-School Tournament of Bakshi Nagar zone got underway, under the supervision of ZPEO, Kiran Jyoti at Govt GHSS Bakshi Nagar, here today.
The tournament was inaugurated by the District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Jammu, Sukhdev Raj Sharma and Principal Govt GHSS Bakshi Nagar.
Around 370 students drawn from various Govt and Private Schools participated in the event.
In kho-kho Under-14 boys, Govt MS Rehari defeated GMS New Plot by 9 points, while GMS Janipur beat GMS Muthi by one turn and 2 points.
In kho-kho Under-17 boys, SOS defeated GBHSS by 1 turn and 2 points, while GHS Janipur outplayed GHSS Centre Basic by 1 innings and 8 points, GHS Resham Ghar prevailed over GHSS Nowabad by 5 points and GHS Rajpura got better of GHSS Jullaka Mohalla by 8 points.
In Kabaddi Under-14 boys , GMS Pull Tawi defeated GHS Citi Chowk in first match and in second match GMS Pull Tawi boys beat GMS Bakshi Nagar. Pull Tawi boys lost their third match in semifinals.
In the finals of Under-14 boys, GHS Janipur prevailed over GHS Toph Sherkhanian by 23-14.
In kabaddi Under-17 boys, Govt SRML beat GHSS Hari Singh by 25-18 points, while in Volleyball GHS Janipur beat Model Academy by (25-22; 25/15) in first match, while in the second match KC Public School beat SMRL HSS by (25-21; 25-23) and in the third match GHSS Sarwal beat GHS Janipur by (25-16 and 25/12).
In finals, KC Public School beat GHSS Sarwal by (25-13 and 25-10).
The rest of the matches will be played on Monday.
