POONCH, Apr 26:  Rashtriya Rifles under Romeo Force conducted a Volleyball Championship at ALG Surankote, here.
Sixteen teams comprising of clubs, Tehsil teams, J&K Police and Rashtriya Rifles Battalions competed for the title from Apr 15, 2015 and it was the team of Star Club, which came out victorious.    The event saw an overwhelming response in which teams of Rashtriya Rifles, J&K Police and Civil teams from Poonch, Mendhar, Mandi and Surankote participated in the keenly contested tournament.
After exciting semifinal matches, the teams of Star Club Surankote and a Rashtriya Rifles battalion reached the finals.
In the final match, both the teams exhibited determination, competitive spirit and the will to win. Star Club Surankote had the backing of home crowd and around one thousand people witnessed the final match.
The chief guest General Officer Commanding, Romeo Force, Major General AK Sanyal, gave away the trophies and prizes to the winners and runners-up teams as well as consolation prizes to all the teams, who participated in the tournament.
It is pertinent to mention here that once infected with terrorism, the sleepy town of Surankote has cherished this initiative of Romeo Force.
The tournament concluded with interaction of General Officer Commanding, Romeo Force and Commander Sector Rashtriya Rifles with prominent personalities and people of Surankote.
