NCC plans to mobilise, prepare cadets for handling Nepal-like situation

NEW DELHI, Apr 27:   In view of disastrous quake in Nepal and some northern states in India, the 1,400,000-strong National Cadet Corps (NCC) is considering mobilising its cadets to actively organise mock drills in various schools to minimise damage in case of any such emergency.
Since children in schools are vulnerable to such disasters, the NCC has decided to spread awareness about the aftercare and handling of the situation, an official spokesman said here today.
The NCC will educate all its cadets across its country about do’s and don’ts in case of an earthquake and plans to carry out mock drills in schools. It will also concentrate on first aid and casualty evacuation.
The NCC has a 14 lakh-strong-cadet base across the country and education of all these cadets towards disaster management would go a long way in ensuring that minimum casualties occur in case such an emergency, the spokesman added. (UNI)
