J&K Govt being controlled from Nagpur, alleges Omar

SRINAGAR: Alleging that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) coalition Government in Jammu and Kashmir was being controlled from Nagpur, former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah criticized it (Government) for arresting senior leader of hardline Hurriyat Conference (HC) leader Masrat Alam under Public Safety Act (PSA).

Talking to reporters at Anantnag, where he had gone to express his condolence on the death of senior NC leader Abdul Gani Veri recently, Mr Abdullah said he had put Masrat in jail after 2010 mass agitation for maintaining peace. More than 120 people, mostly youths were killed in the agitation which was headed by Masrat.

Mr Abdullah, who returned from a foreign tour recently, said PDP led Government headed by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed released Masrat for political reasons to get benefit. But after sharp reaction from Nagpur and others, the Government put Masrat behind bars under PSA.

Yah Government kay gali ki hadee bangayee thee jo na hazam ki jasakti thee na he phank di jasaktee, he said.

But after directions from the Nagpur, the Chief Minister had to succumb and order his arrest under PSA. He said, “this Government is directly under the control of RSS in Nagpur. I feel satisfied that whatever decision I had taken during my six years rule–Good or Bad— I always took without any direction or pressure from anybody.” (AGENCIES)
