No traffic on Ladakh-Kashmir highway tomorrow;

Srinagar-Jammu, Mughal road remain open
SRINAGAR :  There will be no traffic on the national highway, connecting the Ladakh region with the Kashmir valley tomorrow while Srinagar-Jammu and historic Mughal road remained open for one-way only.
A traffic police official said the 434-km-long Srinagar-Leh national highway, which was reopened for one-way only last week after remaining closed for six winter months, will remain closed tomorrow.    He said the highway will remain closed as Border Roads Organisation (BRO) will undertake maintainance of the highway, damaged due to landslides, heavy snowfall and avalanches during winter.
He said the national highway, connecting the Valley with the rest of the country, remained open for one-way only and today traffic will play from Srinagar to Jammu. However, no vehicle will be allowed from opposite direction. Subject the road and weather conditions, traffic will ply from Jammu to Srinagar tomorrow, he said.
Only one-way traffic is allowed on the lifeline of Kashmir as the road was damaged due to soil erosion, landslide and shooting stones at several places. The BRO has already started repairing the road to make it two-way in view of the tourist season.
Only one-way traffic is plying on Mughal road, which was also reopened only last week after remaining closed during winter. Traffic is plyig from Jammu to Srinagar today, he said.    However, dozens of far flung and remote villages, including those near the Line of Control (LoC)  in  Kupwara and Bandipora  remained cut off from their respective district headquarters for the past six months due to snow.
