Sukhnandan directs for end to contaminated water supply

JAMMU, May 16: Acting swiftly on the complaints of contaminated water supply in parts of Old City, PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Minister Choudhary Sukhnandan Kumar today conducted surprise visit of various localities and PHE installations.
Sukhnandan Kumar accompanied by Jammu City East MLA Rajesh Gupta and senior officers of the PHE Department visited Panjtirthi, Chowgan Slathian, Tange Wali Gali, Moti Bazaar, Rani Talab and other parts of Old City on foot and listened to the people’s problems faced by them due to supply of contaminated water.
The Minister checked leakages of water pipes in some areas and directed the PHE officials to immediately plug them. He asked the officials to ensure that the people get clean drinking water and there was no contamination, which could cause problems to the people.
There had been reports that some people had complained of diarrhea and jaundice in the Old City after consumption of contaminated water.
Sukhnandan Kumar directed the PHE officials to ensure that there was no contaminated water supply in any area in future.
