Jammu, May 17:  Natrang in its Sunday Theatre staged a new Hindi play ‘Vikalp’ originally written in Dogri by N D Jamwal and translated in Hindi by Dr Om Goswami. The play has been directed by Neeraj Kant.
Director Natrang, Balwant Thakur thanked the Governor N N Vohra who is also the Chairman of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board for giving the opportunity to the entire theatre fraternity of India to have select short Dogri plays in Hindi. Natrang has promised to stage all the Dogri short plays translated and published recently in Hindi by Dogri Sanstha with the support of SMVDSB.
The play opens at the home of a working couple who are so much involved in their work schedule that they hardly get time to take care of their newly born child. Being busy in their awful schedule, they have given all the responsibility of their child on their maid-servant. It may be better guessed that how concerned that maid-servant would be for someone else’s child who herself has to take care of her own family and kids. On one such day, the couple had an severe altercation on who will stay back at home and look-after the child as the maid-servant is on leave. As they both consider their respective works to be more important, no one is genuinely ready to stay back, in between this dispute, the mother skips and the father manages to bring the maid for a while for babysitting, who also skips, giving all the responsibility to the grandfather of the child who had made just a casual visit there. Annoyed at this culture, the grandfather scolds both the parents and instructs them to find appropriate substitute for the situations like this as child care is more important than anything else. The play narrates the story of all those who could not look-after their kids in the proper manner in the name of their ultra busy schedule.
The artist who performed in the play included Mahikshit Singh, Kritika Bhau, Sachin Bamba and Mausami Thakyal. The lights of the play were designed and executed by Neeraj Kant whereas Shivam Singh gave the music of the play. Mohd Yaseen coordinated the show.
