Modi Govt failed to control unprecedented price hike: Manohar

JAMMU, May 19: Senior Congress leader and Ex-MLA Billawar, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma has expressed serious concern over the recent rise in the prices of petrol and diesel which will further lead to price escalation of all commodities specially food grains and other items of daily use.
In a press statement, Congress leader said that it is first time in the history that petrol and diesel price increased by more than Rs 7 and Rs 6  within 15 days. This abrupt rise in fuel prices further create uncertainty in market which will adversely affect budget of common man. During the UPA Government when the crude oil price was 147 dollar in international market the petrol was sold at the rate of Rs 67 per liter  and now when the rate is more less and often between 40 to 45 dollar per barrel the price charge by the Modi Government is  at Rs 70 per liter by increasing the Excise duty manifold.
He said Narender Modi and other BJP leaders always accuse the UPA Government over price rise during Parliament elections and other public meetings but BJP and its leadership is completely  silent over this unprecedented price rise by increasing Excise duty instead to cut the Excise duty.   Mr Modi did not miss any singular occasion to make comment  or joke over UPA Government  led by   Manmohan Singh.
The common man feels that he is cheated by the false promises made  by Mr Modi and his team luring for good days. It they are serious to control price rise they have to slash down the Excise duty on petroleum products which will give sigh of relief to the already over burdened people of this nation. Similarly, the price of pulses, vegetables and other commodities is more the double within one year  i.e. the Moong Dal is being sold at the rate of Rs 125  to Rs 130 per Kg , Dal Mash at Rs 100 to Rs 110 per Kg  and Dal Chana is at Rs 70 per Kg.
