4 killed in Mughal Road mishap

POONCH, May 19: Four persons including driver of an Airtel vehicle, were killed when a vehicle of the company rolled down into 500 feet deep gorge near Chandimarh on Mughal Road this evening.
SSP Poonch J S Johar disclosed that the mishap took place at around 5.30 pm when the vehicle of the Mobile Phone Company bearing registration No. JK02AP/ 5818 was engaged at work on some towers on Mughal Road. Four workers engaged by the company were travelling with the driver and some material was also loaded in this Tata Mobile vehicle.
The driver Taufeeq Ahmed was reversing the vehicle near Shikargah when the vehicle rolled down into the deep gorge killing four people on the spot and causing serious injuries to the fifth worker. The Traffic police men and local police personnel rushed to the spot from the nearby Bafliaz and Chandimarh stations. They removed the dead bodies from the deep nullah and brought on the road after tough efforts.
The critically injured Mohd Masood, a resident of Surankote was removed to Surankote hospital and later referred to Govt Medical College Hospital, Jammu. The four dead bodies were also removed to Surankote hospital.
SDPO Surankote, Riaz Tantray who also later reached the spot disclosed that all the deceased persons were in the age group of 20 to 24 years. He said that condition of injured labourer was critical. The victim had sustained multiple injuries on head and other parts besides fractures.
The deceased were identified as driver Taufeeq Ahmed, son of Ghulam Ahmed, resident of Draba in Surankote; Parvez Ahmed, son of Nazir Ahmed, resident of Sangaldan (Ramban); Mohd Irshad, son of Mohd Sharief, resident of Budan in Mahore and Tufail Ahmed, resident of Samote in Kotranka (Rajouri). The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
