JAMMU, May 22: Lauding role of missionary education institutes, Minister of State for Education, Culture and Information Priya Sethi said the schools run by missionary organizations have contributed positively in the field of education and the institutions have done exemplary work in spreading modern education in rural and far flung belts of the State.
She said all over the country missionary education is known for its high standards and in the State also the schools run by missionaries have done excellent work in spreading quality education.
She was speaking at the investiture ceremony of Alexander Memorial School, here today.
The Minister was chief guest on the occasion and senior BJP leader Yudhvir Sethi was guest of honor.
During the ceremony, the chief guest presented colors and badges to different houses and complete council of the school was established for the current year. Head boy and head girl were also nominated.
Describing the school as prestigious institute of the State, Priya Sethi said the school is a heritage institution of the State and is operating since last 123 years. She said the school is engaged in imparting quality education to the students and the Government would extend all needed help to the school for providing better facilities to the students.
She said the Government is committed to provide quality education and Government run institutions would be equipped with needed human resource as well as modern infrastructure.
Appreciating the achievements of the school, Yudhvir Sethi said the institution is spreading light of education to all sections of the society and special attention is being paid to marginalized, down trodden and weaker sections of the society.
Besides parents, students and prominent citizens, the ceremony was attended by Johnny William, President, Esther William, Principal, S.M. Gill, Ex-MLC and Vice-President, I.D. Soni, Gulshan Mahajan and Rev Udhey Singh.
