JAMMU, May 22: A meeting of the office bearers of All party Action Committee, Chenab Valley Hill Development Council (CVHDC) was held under the chairmanship of its chief patron- Sheikh Ab. Rehman (Ex-M.P), today.
The meeting discussed various problems being faced by the poor people of Chenab Valley region due to discrimination and step motherly treatment.
They added that due to recent incessant rains, tremor shattering during 2013-14 and callous attitude adopted by Government after completion of Baglihar dam, the Batote-Kishtwar NH-1B, has become a death trap, the speakers narrated their tale of woes in the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief patron said that Jammu and Kashmir provinces have more than half a dozen universities, Central Universities, cancer centers etc but Chenab Valley region has no University or any professional institution.
Therefore in view of recent developments in the State, IIM need to be opened near Chenani and IIT in Batote which are the central places between Jammu and Srinagar and that too along national Highway 1-A, the meeting discussed.
