Mula Ram alleges cut in budget for SCs, STs by NDA

RAJOURI, May 24:  Pradesh Congress Committee vice president and former Minister Mula Ram has alleged that Modi led NDA Government at the Centre has imposed a huge cut in the budget for the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in the country.
Senior PCC leader who along with PCC general secretaries Shabir Ahmed Khan and Ch Shah Mohammad and Senior leader Hari Singh Chib conducted two- day tour of twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch to take stock of the organizational activities and membership drive said here that Modi Government was not serious towards the SCs and STs. It has effected a massive cut in the funds meant for the welfare of the members of the SC and ST communities.
Mula Ram reviewed the ongoing membership drive of the party in the border districts and asked the people to support the secular and progressive policies of the Congress party which has always respected the aspirations and urges of people of different faiths, religions and regions and ensured unity and integrity of the State and the country by its commitment to principles of secularism and inclusive growth.
He said Congress never compromised on its principles and on the question of maintaining harmony did not indulge in short term political gains by exploitation of people on religious, regional and communal lines. He cautioned the people against the caste, communal  and regional exploitations for vested political interests.
He said that the present government at the Centre and in the State should carry forward the developmental projects formulated and initiated by the previous Government in view of the locational and other dis-advantages of Rajouri-Poonch districts in order to further fulfill the developmental gaps in the region.
Referring to the constitutional guarantees and other welfare measures for the downtrodden sections of the society, Mula Ram said that Congress always formulated and implemented policies aimed at upliftment of the poor and downtrodden sections of the society and ensured their participation in every sphere of life. He said that in the year of 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar, it would be great tribute to the Father of the Indian Constitution to give special attention to the welfare of the downtrodden sections by giving further attention to the schemes aimed at their upliftment.
Ch Shah Nawaz general secretary PCC, District president Poonch Rajinder Singh Kaka, former VC Gujjar Bakerwal Board Ch Bashir Naz besides other senior leaders of the party also attended the meetings.
