J&K drubs Chhattisgarh by 32 runs in 60th National School Games

JAMMU, May 25: Jammu and Kashmir defeated Chhattisgarh by 32 runs in the ongoing 60th National School Games in the discipline of cricket Under-19 boys at Nasik in Maharashtra.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, J&K scored a modest total of 117 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 9 wickets in the process. Waseem was the top scorer for J&K with 39 runs, while Junaid contributed 37 runs to the total. Sunil also chipped in with 10 runs.
In reply, Chhattisgarh bundled out for 85 runs in 19.2 overs to lose the match by 32 runs. For J&K Sunil took 3 wickets by conceding 8 runs in his 4 overs, while skipper Tayyab Farooq, Waseem and Masood bagged 2 wickets each and Hitesh claimed one.
However, despite a superb victory against Chhattisgarh, J&K failed to make it to the quarterfinal stage as it lost to formidable Delhi and equally balanced Kerala in other matches of their pool.
J&K team is being accompanied by former Ranji Trophy player Jagtar Singh and Zahoor Rather as coach and manager respectively.
