JAMMU, May 25: Chamber of Commerce and Industry Jammu has appealed all the traders, industrialists, members of social, political, youth, transport organizations besides people in general from Jammu region to observe complete bandh on May 27.
Adressing press conference here today, president of the Jammu Chamber, Rakesh Gupta said that struggle for restoration of AIIMS to Jammu is the issue connected with the honour and dignity of the people of this region. They are being forced by the present regime to have feeling of second class citizens.
Mr Gupta said this is struggle for AIIMS in Jammu amounts to restore honour of Jammu and all the organizations rising above their political and other interests, should join this collective struggle for AIIMS and completion of Tawi Artificial Lake project at the earliest besides other important projects. The CCI president said that though Bar Association Jammu has announced this bandh only for AIIMS yet the other issues of the traders and industrialists are also equally important. The Chamber will pursue all those issues at its own level but on this common issue of AIIMS and Tawi Artificial Lake, Chamber is fully with all the organizations involved, rather would take lead in making this bandh as grand success. Chamber members appealed all the Beopar Mandals and Trade associations to make the bandh a grand success.
The executive members of the Jammu Chamber were also present.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Gujjar United Front led by Shah Mohd Choudhary has extended full support to the Coordination Committee on AIIMS for Jammu bandh on May 27. In a press statement, Shah Mohd said that on the issue of restoration of AIIMS to Jammu, the Front which is premier body of Gujjars, will join the struggle to take this agitation to the logical conclusion.
Several other organizations have also conveyed their active support to the Jammu Bandh on May 27.
Shiv Sena (Bal Thackeray) State president, Ashok Gupta and Shiv Sena Hindustan president Dimpy Kohli, in their separate statements, have expressed their solidarity with other parties over the issue of AIIMS and Tawi artificial Lake. They appealed the people to make Jammu bandh successful for registering their resentment against the Government move on these two issues.
Duggar Pradesh Party has also urged the people belonging to all shades of life observe complete shutdown on May 27 for registering protest against the continuous discriminatory policies of Government against the region, particularly recent decision of shifting AIIMS to Kashmir and abandoning Tawi lake project.
