SRINAGAR, May 26: High Court today issued bailable warrants against the Director Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Srinagar for not implementing the court judgment and flouting the interlocutory orders of the court.
Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey while hearing a contempt petition filed by the petitioners for implementation of judgment passed in their favour last year issued bailable warrants against the Director CA&PD as he did not comply with the orders of the court.
Court said that the warrants be executed by the SSP Srinagar for securing the presence of Director on next date in the amount of Rs 10000.
The petitioner which were 63 in number had approached the court in a writ petition which was disposed in the month of April last year directing the respondents to accord consideration afresh to the employees of the department belonging to the Kashmir division which would include districts of Leh and Kargil in the relevant scale of pay for promotion to the post of Tehsil Supply Officers (TSOs) and inspectors on the basis of their seniority as envisaged by the rules.
The official respondents including Director did not implement the judgment of the court which constrained the petitioners to approach the court for implementation of the judgment as such filed the contempt petition against the officials of CA&PD.
Court on last date had directed for compliance of the judgment with a rider that in case compliance is not filed then Director is to appear in person before the court. Neither the Director was present nor the counsel of the Department resulting in issuance of bailable warrants against the Director.
