JAMMU : A jawan of Border Security Force got injured in cross border firing along International Border in Hiranagar Sector of Kathua while Pakistan also fired heavily on forward posts on LoC in Poonch district today.
“At about 1120 hrs, BSF constable A K Rabha of Hiranagar BSF Bn, who was performing the duty on the International Border in the Sector got injured due to unprovoked firing from Pakistan’s side,” official spokesman here said.
He said that the BSF constable sustained bullet injury in both of his legs.
“Immediately the fire was retaliated by the BSF troops which continued upto 1130hrs,” he added and said that the firing has been stopped and the injured jawan has been evacuated to the hospital in Jammu.
Meanwhile, Pakistani Army violated the ceasefire twice by firing automatics along the Line of Control in Poonch district. “Pakistan after a spell of lull violated the ceasefire on LoC in Krishna Ghati Sector of Mendhar in Poonch,” Lt Col Manish Mehta, Defence spokesperson here said.
He said that Pakistan this morning at around 0600 hrs started unprovoked firing heavily on forward posts along the LoC.
They fired automatics and RPGs, he said. Earlier, last night at around 0030 hrs, Pakistan fired heavily in same sector, the PRO said and added that there was no injury or damage reported in the firing.
“Our troops exercised restrained and did not retaliate,” he added and said that the situation is being monitored. (AGENCIES)
