SRINAGAR, June 1: Minister for CAPD and Tribal Affairs, Ch Zulfkar Ali today ordered inquiry into embezzlement of scholarship funds disbursed under tribal sub plan in Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) Rajouri. He called for putting in place institutional measures to prevent recurrence of such frauds.
“The deserving students, who were deprived of the scholarship, will get justice soon,” the Minister asserted while constituting a panel headed by Secretary Tribal Affairs and directed them to conduct thorough inquiry into the matter and submit report along with recommendations to the Government within a week.
Zulfkar stressed strict vigil shall be maintained on utilization of funds under article 275(1) and tribal sub plan besides third party verification wherever required shall be conducted to ensure proper use of funds earmarked for tribal students. He said that candidates who have suffered will get justice and efforts are underway to devise foolproof and transparent disbursement mechanism.
The Minister stressed on creation of tangible assets and promotion of income generating activities for the welfare and upliftment of the community.
