Parliamentary Standing Committee on Water Resources arrives in Srinagar

SRINAGAR, June 1: The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Water Resources headed by Hukum Singh, MP arrived here today on a 3-day visit to Kashmir to assess the issues concerning flood management and relief & rehabilitation.
During its stay in Kashmir, the members of the Parliamentary Panel would review the progress of “Comprehensive plan for flood management on River Jhelum Phase-I” with the state government officials. The panel would also review flood management and flood forecasting in J&K, disaster management initiatives, ground water scenario, command area development and water management projects in the state.
The members would also undertake field visits of various flood-affected areas in Srinagar, besides taking on-the-spot review of works pertaining to flood protection along River Jhelum and various flood-spill channels in Kashmir.
The members of the Committee include, Tariq Hameed Karra, Radheshyam Biswas, Devusinh Chauhan, Sukhbir Singh Jaunapuria, Vinod Kumar, Murali Mohan Maganti, Sidhant Mohapatra, Abhijit Mukherjee, Rodmal Nagar, Subhash Patel, Sanjay Kaka Patil, Vijaysinh Shankarrao Mohite Patil, Aparupa Poddar, Vishnu Dayal Ram, S P Y Reddy, Ram Prasad Sarmah, Sathyabama V, Lallu Singh, L K Vaghela, Dimple Yadav, Balwinder Singh Bhunder, Anil Madhav Dave, Naznin Faruque, Mir Mohammad Fayaz, Sanjiv Kumar, Prof Mrinal Miri, V Hanumantha Rao, Amar Shankar Sable, A V Swamy and Lal Sinh Vadodia.
