Railways to soon start Katra-Ahmedabad train

JAMMU, June 2: After the launch of Katra-Kalka train via Chandigarh, Indian Railways is likely to start the already announced Katra-Ahmedabad train soon.
“Indian Railway is likely to start the already announced Katra-Ahmedabad train soon to facilitate the pilgrims visiting Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine and other tourist destinations in Jammu and Kashmir”, said Anuj Prakash, Divisional Railway Manager, Ferozpur while interacting with media persons here today. He was flanked by Rashmi Choudhary, Executive Director, Railway Board.
Mr Prakash stated that he along with Rashmi Choudhary is here as a part of 15-days long “Passenger and Customers Facilities Programme” launched by Railway Board to listen to the grievances of the rail passengers on the eve of one year completion of Narinder Modi Government.
He informed that during interaction with people and management of the Railways here the main issue which came to fore is regarding expansion of the Jammu Railway Station including platforms and yards by vacating the Oil Depot area.
“Oil Depot area on the backside of the Railway Station can prove disastrous and needs to shift immediately”, he added.
“We took up the matter of expansion of Railway Station by vacating the Oil Depot area with DC Jammu and he assured to look into the issue positively”, Prakash added.
He disclosed that they have listened to the grievances of the people and after accumulating full report, will submit it to the Railway Ministry for consideration.
Regarding running of high speed trains demand of Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCI), Anuj Prakash said that the track-doubling is going on and will be completed in March 2016.
