MENDHAR, June 2: The police has seized the timber after 12 big green trees were illegally felled by some staff members in the ITI complex here today.
Reports said that Superintendent of  the ITI Niaz Ahmed was away in Punjab for some days while Supervisor, Raj Singh had gone on leave to his home at Sunderbani. Some insiders engaged a few woodcutters and felled  12 long green trees in the complex. The locals of the area taking cognizance of the matter approached higher authorities. They alleged that students used to sit in the shade of these trees but some people connived with the  contractors and taking plea of  apprehension of falling during wind storm,  felled these green trees. The police registered a case and  seized about 40 logs of felled trees.  Two axes were also seized by police.
Supervisor when contacted said that they had no such permission or any orders from the senior officers to fell the trees. The action as per law will be taken against the persons involved, he maintained.
