Tanghdar searches enter 3rd day

Srinagar, June 2: Army today continued searches for two militants who were part of the group that was eliminated in Tanghdar in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
The General Officer Commanding (GoC) 15 Corps, Lt General Subrata Saha told Excelsior that he visited Tanghdar today to take review of the situation along the Line of Control (LoC) in Tanghdar sector.
The GOC said that the operation was still going on and is at the final stage. He said: “Four terrorists were killed, 4 AK rifles, UBGLs and GPS devices were recovered.”
Lt General Saha said that the infiltration took place during the  intervening night of May 30 and 31 and at 4.30 a.m. they were intercepted. “On May 31, three terrorists were neutralized and fourth was killed on June 1”, he said.
The operation is being conducted by 3/1 GR, 20 RR, 12 Maratha and 26 Rajput of Army based in Tanghdar and 4-Para based in Kupwara. Army is trying to ensure that no more militant is hiding in the forest area.
