Govt committed to develop rural, remote areas on modern lines: DyCM

RAJOURI, June 3: Describing Rajouri district as a perfect example of unity in diversity, Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh today said this unique bouquet of unity amidst diversity delineates the composite spirit of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Deputy Chief Minister was addressing a series of public meetings at Rajouri, Narian and Sunderbani today.
Dr Nirmal Singh said the Coalition Government is fully aware of problems being faced by the people living in rural and far-off areas and all out efforts are being made to fulfill their demands on priority. He reiterated the commitment of the Coalition Government to ensure holistic development of all the regions of the state with special focus on remote, far flung and rural areas. He said the state is on the march of peace, progress and development under this regime and sought people’s whole hearted support to strengthen the hands of the Government.
Underlining commitment of the Government to promote unexplored tourist destinations of the State, the Deputy CM said that district Rajouri has immense tourism potential which will be harnessed through multifaceted approach. He said conducive environment will be created so as to increase the tourist footfall in this area which will in turn give boost to the economic activities as well as generate job opportunities.
The Deputy CM was accompanied by Minister for Transport, Abdul Ghani Kohli, MLA Ravinder Raina, MLC Vibodh Gupta, district and sectoral officers along with prominent citizens of district Rajouri.
On the occasion, Abdul Ghani Kohli said that the Government is committed for socio-economic empowerment of the people especially those living in hilly, remote and far flung areas. He emphasized on regular monitoring of the development works besides use of quality material. He said no stone would be left unturned in redressing genuine grievances of the people.
Local representatives of the area put forth various demands which mainly related to better road connectivity, up-gradation of schools, adequate staff at District Hospital, installation of quality transformers, early completion of community hall at Rajouri besides demanding completion of Sangpur canal. At Narian, locals demanded Higher Secondary School and a bridge to provide connectivity to Kallar village.
Responding to the grievances of people, Dr. Nirmal Singh assured that their genuine problems would be addressed in a time-bound manner. He directed the concerned officers to look into all the issues raised by the people and initiate necessary steps for early redressal.
While responding to the questions of media persons regarding BGSBU scholarship issue, the Deputy CM reiterated that the Coalition Government has zero tolerance against corruption and as such assured that stringent action will be taken against those involved in the scam.
Earlier while reviewing the development works in District Rajouri, Dr. Nirmal Singh impressed upon the officers to adopt a proactive and scientific approach while executing developmental projects as this is long term investment intended to create durable assets for the people.
