PM likely to attend closing ceremony of Simhastha next year

NEW DELHI : Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to attend the closing ceremony of Simhastha, a religious festival, next year in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today met the Prime Minister at his South Block office here and apprised him about the preparations and programmes to be held during the Simhastha.
Chouhan invited Prime Minister to grace the grand event.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave his acceptance for the closing ceremony of Simhastha 2016. On this occasion a Ujjain Declaration will be released by the Prime Minister,” a press release issued by the state government said.
Simhastha Mahakumbh will be a confluence of thoughts and ideologies, which will mainly be focused on spirituality and religion. Seminars will be held during the mega event in which views on different aspects of life will be exchanged and discussed, it said.
Chouhan has also invited the Prime Minister to inaugurate the ‘Vishwa Hindi Sammelan’ (World Hindi Conference) to be held in September this year in Bhopal.
During the meeting, the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister also informed the Prime Minister about the various ongoing development works and investment scenario in the state.
Simhastha, a bathing festival celebrated once in twelve years, will be held in Ujjain from April 22, 2016 to May 21, 2016. Lakhs of people are expected to take bath in Kshipra river in Ujjain during this religious event. (AGENCIES)
