JAMMU, June 4: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by practicing Advocates seeking computerization of courts, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar and Justice Janak Raj Kotwal today directed the Chief Secretary to file response on the proposal of Registrar General and NIC or appear in person.
After hearing Advocate Aparajita Jamwal appearing for the PIL whereas Advocate Amrish Kapoor appearing for the High Court and Deputy AG PS Chandel for the State, DB observed, “court order dated May 5, 2015 has not been complied with by the Chief Secretary in as much as no response has been filed by or any stand taken on the proposal of Registrar General and NIC regarding computerization and e-filing”.
Division Bench granted four weeks time on the request of Deputy AG for filing response and taking stand on the proposal of Registrar General and NIC. Division Bench further said that, “in case, needful is not done, Chief Secretary shall appear in person on next date of hearing”.
