North Zone Inter Sainik Schools Sports Festival in second week of June

JAMMU, June 5: Sainik School Nagrota is all set to host the 2015 edition of weeklong North Zone Inter Sainik Schools Sports Festival during the second week of June.
Five Sainik Schools representing their respective States located in the North Zone, namely Sainik School Ghorakhal (Uttarakhand), Sainik School Kunjpura (Haryana), Sainik School Kapurthala (Punjab), Sainik School Sujanpur Tira (Himachal Pradesh) and the hosts Sainik School Nagrota (J&K) will take part in this weeklong competition.
This Zonal Championship will comprise of a wide range of games and literary competitions like Volleyball, Basketball, Hockey, Football (Sub-juniors as well as Juniors), Hindi and English Debates, Quiz and Dramatics.
This mega event is scheduled to be formally inaugurated at the School Stadium which has been recently christened as Major Somnath Sharma Stadium, after the first recipient of the country’s highest gallantry award Param Vir Chakra for his singular act of courage in J&K during 1947 operations.
Under the vision and foresight of the Principal Colonel Kapil Dev Koushal, the school campus reverberates “Change and Vibrancy” in every aspect and detail.
The entire academic and administrative mechanism is pressed into service round the clock to execute diligent planning so as to make the event a spectacular success.
This weeklong championship will involve five contingents comprising of 72 participants each, competing in four games and playing 50 matches in all. The overall winners of each game will qualify to play All India Sainik Schools Inter Zonal Championship 2015 to be held at different venues later this year.
The school administration has made elaborate arrangements to accommodate and cater to the contingents from the participating schools that are expected to arrive by this weekend.
