JAMMU, June 7: SOS International- an organisation for PoK displaced persons discussed the latest development and their demands including relief package and other related issues in a meeting held here today.
The speakers in the meeting voiced against the alleged biased approach of Govt of adopting dilly-dallying tactics towards their demands. Several PoK DPs expressed their agony and pain against Union and State Governments over the delay in settlement package which was sent to Centre for its implementation.
Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion while MLC Charanjit Singh Khalsa the guest of honour.
Chairman of the organization, Rajiv Chuni welcomed both guests and presented mementos. Addressing the gathering Mr Chuni said that DPs now have their these two representatives who are holding important constitutional positions and they can explain well the problems of PoK DPs to the Government. There is a dire need to raise voice to end the plight of PoK DPs. He said the resolution of PoK DPs is mentioned in the CMP and delay on the part of Government is quite surprising.
He stated that PoK DPs have been bearing pain for the last 68 years and this process is still continued. The DPs had lost their hope getting something good for them due to Govt apathy. They had given their mandate in 1947 that they would go with India and had a hope of getting justice but even after 68 years, they are looking at Government’s face with a ray of hope.
Mr Chuni urged the Govt to keep the records of PoK DPs safe & secure and get it computerized for easy accessibility. He demanded that 1947 PoK DPs’ issue must be solved exclusively and separately from the DPs of Chammb of 1965 and 1971.
Kavinder Gupta and MLC Charanjit Singh Khalsa listened to the issues SOS International and assured early disposal of all issues.
Others who spoke included JS Mangal, Lalit Kumar, Roshan Lal, Virinder Khajuria, Subash Suri and RS Bali.
