JAMMU, June 8: Indian Cultural Forum today organized another musical evening “Nirmal Rang” based on the poetry of prominent poet Dr Nirmal Vinod.
Ramesh Mehta, former Secretary Cultural Academy and able poet himself presided over the programme. Prof Raj Kumar was the chief guest on the occasion while as Joginder Chatterpal, president Dogri Sanstha was the special guest. Senior journalist Abhimanyu Sharma and Arvinder Amn, Additional Secretary Cultural Academy were guests of honour.
Prof Lalit Mangotra, chief patron of the Indian Cultural Forum, in his welcome address, depicted the motto and ambitions of the Forum and requested the people from all walks of life to attend such programmes in large number. He further said that Forum was committed to organize one programme every month.
Programme started with a Dadra written by Dr Nirmal Vinod sung by Manju Bala, Gursharan Kour and Sargam Pant and composed by Sham Sajan “Rang Barhey Waise Ke Chhootte Nahin” in Raag Desh.
Apporwa Jamwal sang a song in Raag Malkouns “Sundali Hawaaoon Ne Bina Kisi Aahat Ke” which was liked by one and all. Rahul Kumar, in his melodious voice, rendered a song in Raag Bairagi Bhairav. The trio of lyrics, music direction and singing created an atmosphere of extreme pathos.
“Phenk Chaley Ho Patthar Thehre Paani Mein” sung by Sargam Pant in Raag Brindaban Sarang received massive applause. “Kaise Aaaoon Pass Tumhare Kaise Aankh Milaoon”-a devotional song sung by Manju Bala in Raag Darbari Kanhrha in her typical style was loved by everyone.
Dr Nirmal Vinod himself recited two of his master pieces-one song and one Ghazal which earned thunderous applause. Sham Sajan sang a Ghazal in Raag Bhairavi “Dhoonda Usey Kahaan Nahin Dekha Jahaan Wahaan Nahin” received acknowledgement of the audience.
Prof Raj Kumar emphasized that such programmes shall be organized twice a month. Sham Sajan was the music director of the programme wherein Sanjay Kumar Pashi accompanied on Guitar and Mandolian and Karan Malhotra accompanied on Tabla. Prof Chanchal Dogra anchored the programme and Gayaneshwar Sharma presented the vote of thanks.
